Get to Know Me Better

My History

I am originally from the South of Germany where I grew up, went to University and worked for a couple of years. I then married an Englishman and have been living and working in the UK ever since. When I am not translating, I am an active member of the committees of our local walking club and the town twinning associations.

My Qualifications

I hold the equivalent to a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Passau and gained state-certification from the Ministry of Culture of Saarland for English-German and German-English translations. I am also holding the full Diploma in Translation for English to German and French to German from the Chartered Institute of Linguists of which I am a member. Currently, I also work towards a qualification in Spanish to German translations to expand my offering.

My Experience

In Germany, I worked for market research company GfK creating representative samples for consumer market research. In England, I joined drinks wholesaler Matthew Clark assisting with accounts payable tasks. I then went to work for Threadneedle Investments where I was responsible for written communications with our German clients and the translations of standard client letters from English into German. Since 2005, I have run my own translation business serving a wide range of clients.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?

What is your turnaround

It depends on any other jobs I am currently working on. Generally, I can translate 1000 words a day.

How are your prices calculated

I look at the amount of words and the difficulty of the text. I can then make an estimate of how long it will take me and quote a price per project.

Are my documents safe with you?

Yes. I do not share your documents and their content with any third party and I adhere to the GDPR rules.

Do you use machine translations?

No. My translations are 100% human to guarantee you the best quality. However, I am happy to discuss any post-editing of machine translations with you if the text fulfills a certain set of criteria and conditions.
